The watershed is facing significant challenges due to increasing land-use changes, which have led to severe sedimentation and reduced groundwater storage. These changes negatively impact hydrology, damage sediment retention structures, and heighten the risk of disasters such as floods, erosion, and landslides. Additionally, unregulated sand mining activities exacerbate ecological disruption, further damaging the watershed and contributing to environmental degradation.
InterventionReforestation and sustainable practices are being implemented through community-based tree planting over 2,000 hectares, allowing communities to choose tree species that maximize both ecological and economic benefits. Flood mitigation and hydrological management efforts include regular mapping and hydrological studies to identify critical areas and implement effective flood mitigation strategies. Furthermore, awareness and education campaigns are promoting collaboration among various stakeholders to develop comprehensive watershed management plans and increase community awareness about sustainable land use and conservation practices.
